In the early 11th century Eichach and Pfahlbach belonged to bishop Gebhard, who together with his mother Adelheid donated both communes to the newly founded monastery Öhringen. After that, claims for power changed several times, before Hohenlohe acquired all sovereign rights yet before the year 1500. After the land division of 1553 the complete property of Hohenlohe obtained the dynasty Neuenstein, which morgaged it for a short time. Besides Pfahlbach, Tiefensall, Ober- and Untermaßholderbach, Büttelbronn and Westernbach also the newly purchased Tiergarten belonged to the department of Zweiflingen in1672. Whereas Eichach was among the department Beutingen. Everywhere Hohenlohe-Neuestein was entiteled to authority as well as to escort rights. Within the later 18th century the department Zweiflingen was countermanded, and transferred to Michelbach; Tiefensall was among the bailiwick Forchtenberg; Eichach and Pfahlbach were among the department Ohrnberg and Friedrichsruhe was administrated by Öhringen. Not until 1854/58 Zweiflingen belonged unchanged to Öhringen, which later was added to the county Öhringen and changed in 1974 to the county “Hohenlohekreis”.
