In the wide wooden area between Zweiflingen and Pfahlhof a zoological garden including a hunter’s lodge was built in 1612 by the earl of Neuenstein and fallow deer was kept.
During the 30-years-war the manor and the surrounding communities were heavily demolished, but built up again in the following years. During the term of Johann Friedrich II the chatêau Tiergarten was built (1712 to 1717).
To his memento the name Friedrichsruhe came up since 1750. The newly founded commune increased to 21 houses and 13 outhouses till 1819.
